Steps Babajide Sanwo-Olu is taking to woo voters and youths

Lagos state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has taken some steps to woo voters in Lagos state. The governor, who is seeking another term in office is already feeling the heat of polity within his domain.

His godfather, Bola Tinubu, lost the state during the 25 February presidential election. The loss was shocking and it sent waves across the country as the “Jagaban” was stunned at home by the Obidient movement.

Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu must have been sure of victory considering the trend of politics in Lagos state. It has always been a show of one political party, which the new president-elect actually controls. But the tide is changing rather rapidly.

The governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered that all vehicles that the LASTMA impounded should be returned to the owners without any condition. The Lagos State Transport Management Agency has become a dreaded government agency to motorists in the commercial centre.

Lots of vehicles have been seized by the agency. In fact, the agency in collaboration with the state government put up lots of the vehicles for sales last year. All of a sudden, the LASTMA has released the cars, buses, etc to the owners without collecting a dime.

In the same vein, the state governor had declared a three-day mourning for the victims of the accident that occured on Thursday, 9 March. There was a collision between a BRT and a train in Lagos state. LASTMA said some lives were lost in the mishap.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu had identified with and mourned the deceased. Declaring mourning for victims is very rare in Lagos state, most especially under the administration of the incumbent governor.

An unstated number of people lost their lives in the accident. Victims are at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) receiving treatments.

Swiftly, Babajide Sanwo-Olu led a team of government officials to the hospital to inspect the injured. He posted this on his verified Facebook page where he announced that 6 of the 85 passengers lost their lives in the fatal accident.
