Tinubu’s victory: when will Bode George leave the country?

One of the unprecedented things to happen in the country is Bola Tinubu’s victory. He polled close to 9 million votes to beat other candidates to the seat of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Prior to the record, Bola Tinubu faced lots of oppositions, brutalization, humiliation and mockery from his opponents. Lots of people cast doubt on his struggle and it looked he wouldn’t surmount the hurdles ahead of him.

A Lagos-based politician, Chief Bode George, is one of the ardent oppositions that Bola Tinubu faced. The top PDP’s chieftain didn’t veil his rejection, and criticism of the ex Lagos state governor. He talked on several fora to condemn Tinubu.

He even swore that Bola Tinubu’s victory would make him leave the country. Of course, he talked with his tongue on his cheeks. He has made empty threats and propagandas in the past. When Tinubu started his bid, the former chairman of the port authority said he would leave the country.

He was sure that Bola Tinubu wouldn’t win the presidential election. Hence, he swore that he would immediately leave the country if the former Lagos State governor won.

Since Tinubu’s victory in the Saturday, 25 February election, Chief Bode George has been quiet. He was ranting and criticizing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while the commission was collating the results.

Upon the declaration of Tinubu’s victory, the chief from Lagos has become quiet. The reality has dawned on him and he couldn’t retract his words anymore. He took his opposition beyond normal to the extent of swearing to leave the country.

Bola Tinubu has never taken his time to reply the PDP’s chieftain. He would rather press further in his quest not minding what the opponents including George were saying. Now, when will Bode George make good his threat? When will he leave the country as he swore he would?
