Lagos state results: The landlord becomes tenant

Bola Tinubu has often claimed to be the builder of the commercial hub of the country, but the Lagos State results in the general elections have proven otherwise.

Most of his loyalists often claim without concrete evidence that he literally and invariably own Lagos state. They do make reference to some non-existent blueprints he used to develop Lagos. That has been the campaign.

They also said that the centre of excellence belongs to the “Jagaban”. But the voters have talked in such a way that there can be no dispute. The Lagos State results for the presidential election show that Tinubu himself is a tenant, not a landlord.

They have profiled the Igbo people, they intimidated them even on the day of the elections. They claim that the city belongs to their principal, Tinubu and that he is the city boy. That boy has taken the back seat, he has lost the state he owns.

Bola Tinubu was the Lagos State governor from 1999 to 2007. He said he was able to transform the state from forest to city. Whereas Lagos state was the capital of the country for more than two decades. The state also hosts most of the Federal Government establishments and institutions.

Despite all the factors that aid the development of Lagos, Bola Tinubu still claims that he is the landlord. The Lagos State results have proved that he is a mere tenant. The landlords, the voters have decided. They used their thumbs to talk.

The Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi has been talked down that he doesn’t have any structure. He said the people, that is the voters, are his structures. He literally meant that the voters are the landlord. Lo and behold the landlords have decided.

To make it clearer, the Labour Party candidate polled 582,130 votes to send Tinubu to the second position on the log. The ex Lagos state governor polled 570,949 votes.

That should be amazing Lagos state results. They delivered more than one million votes in total. And the winner of course is the landlord. Lagos state has been a kind of “no man’s land” even though it’s initially occupied by Yoruba people.

That should even be enough to humble the ex Lagos state governor, whose origin is traced to Iragbiji in Osun State. Yet he keeps claiming to be the city boy and the landlord. How can a landlord be at the back? Isn’t that ironical?
