Orji Kalu commits two fouls in the poll

A top senator from Abia State, Orji Kalu, has committed two fouls in the ongoing general elections. Despite his top class in the country, the lawmaker committed the errors and crimes with a reckless abandon.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) doesn’t tolerate any form of display of ballot papers in the election. But Mr. Orji Kalu seems overexcited, hence he forgot what the electoral law says.

The senator openly showed the ballot paper to the other electorate who were watching him gleefully. The lawmaker rooted for the ex Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu.

Mr. Orji Kalu has somehow, either intentionally or otherwise, campaigned and lobbied for Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress. He held the ballot paper for presidential election.

The electoral body may decide to probe and prosecute the senator for this flagrant disregard for the laws. Likewise, Kalu voted void. One could have expected the chief whip of the Senate to understand better.

Yet he cast an invalid vote. INEC says once the choice crosses the line into another one, such a choice is invalid or simply called “rejected”.
