Madrid Continues to Dominate & Beat English Team
The defending UEFA Champions League winners, Real Madrid, has once again proved to be the king over the English Premier League team. Yesterday’s pummelling of Liverpool is another signal that Madrid is far above the English clubs.
Just last year the Spanish club sent Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool out of the European elite competition. In its journey to the record 14th title, Real Madrid met the English giants.
They met Liverpool in the final, Manchester City in the semifinals and Chelsea in the quarterfinals. The Les Blanco threw the three of them out into the bin.
Manchester City were close to upsetting the Spanish giants, but the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners stood their ground and stunned Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Liverpool looked forward to revenging yesterday in yet another UEFA Champions League match. The hosts defeated Newcastle United in the last English Premier League game to send a signal to the visitors from Spain.
Two early goals from Darwin Nunez and maverick Mo Salah should have helped sealed the game. As they always normally do, Madrid came from behind not only to win, but also with a very wide goal difference.
Vincius Junior’s netted twice and captain Karim Benzema beat keeper Allison Becker in a 7-goal thriller at Anfield. Liverpool were not close to winning let alone a revenge.
The defeat against Real Madrid has compounded Jurgen Klopp’s woes at Liverpool. He has been struggling to keep the team together and to record victory.
Liverpool has a chance to upturn the loss at the Estadio Santiago Bernebeu in the return leg. But it’s on a very rare occasion a team comes back to beat the most successful team in the UEFA Champions League.
In the previous final they played, Salah had to come off the pitch due to an injury. Liverpool lost the game and since then he has looked forward to taking one pound of flesh from Madrid.
They have now met twice after the game. They both ended in loss for the Reds.
