WHY CHELSEA IS DESPERATE TO GET ENZO FERNANDEZ
The London club is really desperate to bring Enzo Fernandez into the team this season. So much pressure has been mounted on Benfica to sell the Argentina world cup winner.
The club has initially placed a whooping €85m on the player, who was also crowned as the youngest player of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
After initial proposal was rejected, Chelsea returned to the table to woo the club and the player. Right now Chelsea has made another bid of €120m for the young, but talented player.
Benfica president Rui Costa has persistently made it clear that the club has no intention of selling Enzo Fernandez. But Chelsea is really obsessed with the signing of the player.
The main reason for this is that Chelsea is determined to rebuilding its midfield to make it dominate the English Premier League and other domestic competitions.
London rivals Arsenal have shown interest in getting Jorginho, who has come under destructive criticisms most especially because of his style of playing.
If Jorginho eventually joins Arsenal, Chelsea will need to have a replacement for him. Another reason is that the Croat, Kovacic is battling injuries and he has not been consistent for the team this season.
