Another showdown between Brighton and Liverpool
Today’s English FA cup will witness another showdown between Brighton and Liverpool. The two teams will meet at the American Express stadium in a one-legged match.
There have been two other showdowns between Brighton and Liverpool so far this season. The two ended in a disappointment for Jorgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
The last match, an English Premier League game, was a rather humiliation for the Reds, who travelled to meet Brighton at home. The host scored three times and Liverpool were unable to return any of them.
Brighton is without its coach, Harry Potter, who had been employed by Chelsea, and others top players who are currently plying their trade in other clubs. Leandro Trossard, the Belgian international, is now in Arsenal while Bissouma and Cucurella are in Tottenham and Chelsea respectively.
But that has not affected the club as it continues to be a threat to most especially the big clubs in England. Brighton went on to pummel Liverpool without the players mentioned above.
Brighton has scored six goals in two games against Liverpool so far this season. In fact, Liverpool has only managed to have a draw in the two games and scored three.
The third showdown between Brighton and Liverpool will be a kind of litmus test for the German coach, Jurgen Klopp, who is apparently bereft of ideas despite bringing a new set of players including Cody Gakpo into the team.
Anything but a win will be disastrous for the coach and put him under more scrutiny. Media has not really paid attention to the floppy performance of the coach and his players. But if Brighton triumphs again at home, Klopp will have to provide more explanations.
Klopp will have to use the showdown between Brighton and Liverpool to prove that he is still capable of leading the Reds.
