Fuel and new naira note scarcity: Tinubu reacts

Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, has reacted to the current fuel and new naira note scarcity in the country. The foremost candidate has talked tough amidst uncertainties in the country.

Nigerians have to form countless long queues at the filling stations in major cities. Several have to travel several kilometers or miles to buy petrol that isn’t available. The issue has made the candidate to talk in Yoruba language.

Tinubu was in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State as part of his campaign movement across the country. The ex Lagos state governor even indicted some unnamed saboteurs of being behind the lingering crisis in the country.

He said, “They keep fuel, they keep money. They are the ones who know why they are doing that”.

He proceeded to talk in the scorching sun, “If you like, change the ink of the naira. We are going to win and the PDP will fall down”.

He didn’t stop at that. Tinubu said, “The city boy is here. I am the son of the soil. We will take the government from them: the bad people.”

“They don’t want the election to take place. They want to stop the election.” He later asked the jeering crowd: will you allow them?”

Tinubu did not specifically mention any name. It will be recalled that the Central Bank governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele wanted to contest for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress and President Muhammadu Buhari inherited the governor from the last PDP’s government.

Tinubu might be throwing shades to the governor who has insisted that the old naira notes will cease to be valid by 31 January, 2023. Fuel and new naira notes scarcity can be as a result of the directive of the CBN governor.
