Moment beggars become choosy in Kaduna
It is surprising to see a moment beggars become choosy. They are not to question what the alms givers offer them.
Some beggars at the ever busy Kano road in Kaduna, Kaduna state have decided to be choosy, Daily Post has reported.
According to the newspaper, a man who was simply identified as Caleb met three beggars on wheelchairs shortly after he had alighted from a commercial bus.
Daily Post reported that Mr. Caleb decided to give N1,000 to the choosy beggars in Kaduna. He brought out the money, which was old naira note, from his wallet.
On sighting the note, the beggars turned and left the spot immediately. They outright rejected the money Caleb offered them because it’s old.
Recall that the Central Bank of Nigeria has put 31 January as the deadline for the acceptability of the old naira notes of 200, 500 and 1,000. That could be the main reason for the beggars’ rejection of the money.
Mr. Caleb said he had only old notes on him and that he had not been able to get the new ones. But the beggars rejected the money.
