EPL: Two London derbies, two struggles

It’s another match day in the English Premier League with two London derbies, two struggles. The two derbies take place in the capital of England, London. Tottenham Hotspur will host its north London rivals Arsenal in an encounter that means a lot.

Arsenal will look forward to extending their leads over misfiring Manchester City, the defending champions in the English Premier League. The gunners currently lead Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City with five points. A victory for the Mikel Arteta’s side would lead to eight points adrift.

That would surely make Arsenal sit comfortably on the log and remain hopeful of winning the coveted league for the first time since 2003 when legendary Arsene Wenger won the league for the North London team.

On the other side, Antonio Conte’s men would want to keep their top four struggle alive. Tottenham presently sit on number five in the log behind surprising Newcastle United. Tottenham is taking part in the UEFA Champions League.

Tottenham has been inconsistent in the English Premier League. The team has dropped lots of points, but the worst that could happen is to fail to make it to next UEFA Champions League. The last time Arsenal recorded victory away at Tottenham was 2004.

A draw in the match would still make Arsenal dominate the league with 6 points above Manchester City and 7 above United. Definitely, the gunners will want to avoid a loss in the encounter today.

Harry Potter’s Chelsea has performed woefully despite the jaw dropping money the new owner has committed to the team for improvement. German Thomas Tuchel was hurriedly sacked and replaced with Harry Potter, who was heading Brighton.

But Potter has performed rather disappointedly although lots of the players are in injury. Nevertheless, before the injury woes compounded, Chelsea’s performance had drastically dropped. The Blues are in 10 on the log with just 10 points above the relegation zone and 13 points behind the top four.

Chelsea will host Crystal Palace, a London team. The Blues were defeated by its neighbor, Fulham just some days ago in another English Premier League game with Joao Felix being booked for a rough foul.

Patrick Viera’s Crystal Palace is also struggling in the competition. But it can further compound Chelsea’s woes and put more pressure on Harry Potter. It will be a big clash in the Stamford bridge today.

This Sunday, it will be two London derbies, two struggles in the elite English Premier League. Arsenal will struggle to extend their lead, Tottenham continue to eye a slot in the top four while both Chelsea and Crystal Palace will struggle for their “survival” in the league.
