Why Obi won’t last in power if he wins

Let’s agree with Peter Obi’s supporters for once that their so-called messiah will win the poll. However, Obi won’t last in power if he wins. This is the bitter truth that the hardline supporters will need to swallow.

The followers who dubbed themselves “Obidient” are totally convinced that Obi is what Nigeria needs now and for real he will emerge as the winner beating Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the PDP’s candidate Atiku Abubakar in the February, 2023 election.

For how long will Peter Obi last? Probably till the time the National Assembly converges in June as the 9th assembly. After their inauguration, it’s sure that “President” Peter Obi will know that his time is up. What exactly will make him leave power?

His fate won’t be that of seriously sick Umar Musa Yar’adua, the only president to die in power since 1999. But there are tendencies that Peter Obi will be sacked or impeached by the National Assembly because his Labour Party won’t be able to have majority in the chambers.

President Muhammadu Buhari enjoys an uninterrupted stay in power because his party, the All Progressives Congress, controls the House of Senate and the House of Representatives. Despite his ineptitude and cluelessness, he has not been disturbed by the parliaments.

Mr. Peter Obi has based his campaign only for the presidency. Little or perhaps no efforts are made for the other elective posts. The Labour Party is “popular” at the national level whereas the grassroots where the lawmaker will emerge from seem to have been out of the party’s scheme or plan.

Even in some states including Jigawa, Labour Party doesn’t have candidates for the Senate and by extension the House of Representatives. One will ask: how does Peter Obi intend to rule the country without the National Assembly (NASS)?

It will be in record that no particular president has been impeached. It’s not that the presidents are strong or feared. The fact is their parties (PDP and APC) always dominate the parliament. Hence, the president can sleep with their two eyes shut!
