Man Utd reach decision on Rashford future after every managerial candidate says the same thing

Marcus Rashford knows what Man Utd will do regarding his future this summer after a report revealed why his relationship with the club hit a ‘new low’.

Rashford, 24, has endured a torrid campaign that has returned just five goals and two assists in all competitions. That is a far cry from the 20+ goals he had plundered in successive seasons entering this year.

ESPN previously reported Manchester United believe Rashford’s poor season was due to the absence of a proper pre-season.

Rashford would return to form after the last international break.

The forward was afforded a rare mid-season break after being snubbed by Gareth Southgate and building up his match sharpness was priority number one.

However, Rashford was then overlooked for selection against Leicester despite being the only fit striker in the squad.

Bruno Fernandes was once again chosen to the lead the line as a false nine. The Portuguese did the same against Man City on March 6 – also at Rashford’s expense.

Now, a report from the Sun has revealed those two snubs in particular left Rashford ‘considering quitting’ Old Trafford.

Manager candidates agree on Rashford

Despite his dismal form, interest from within England and further afar would be widespread. The outlet names Atletico Madrid, PSG and Barcelona as potential landing spots.

However, despite his reservations about his standing at United, Rashford has now been assured he will have an important role to play beyond the summer.

Manchester United are poised to appoint Erik ten Hag as their next manager if widespread reporting is to be believed. He – along with every other managerial candidate United spoke to – all told the club Rashford should not be sold if they were to land the gig.

The Sun cite a source that stated: “Marcus is having a really tough time this season. Especially in the games where he has not started even though United didn’t have another striker available.

“It’s happened a couple of times, so he is concerned that Ralf Rangnick just doesn’t fancy him.

“But the club have let him know that the contenders for the manager’s job have told them that he is a vital asset to the club. And that he would still figure strongly in their plans to rebuild.
