Vice President Yemi Osinbajo discussed Buhari with the Grand Khalifa of the Tijjaniya Movement Worldwide, His Eminence Sheikh Muhammadu Mahi Ibrahim Niass.
The vice president, who now acts on behalf of his Principal, described Muhammadu Buhari as a role model. He said that the president respects other people’s faith and religion.
Yemi Osinbajo is a devout Christian. He is a member, and even a pastor, at the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Whereas Muhammadu Buhari is a Muslim. Yet there has never been a dispute between the two.
Osinbajo told the Grand Khalifa that they have both been together since 2015 and there is no rancour. The Grand Khalifa paid a courtesy visit to the vice president. Buhari is out of the country to attend to his health.
Professor Yemi Osinbajo discussed Buhari, “President Buhari is a serious Muslim and I am a pastor, both of us have worked together for about 7 years, we have not had any issues.”
Osinbajo, a former justice commissioner in Lagos State, said that the president had shown what he wanted for the country.
He revealed to the Islamic cleric, “The President has shown great leadership, he has shown that he wants a country where people of different faiths live in harmony and with love for one another.”
Osinbajo also explained how religion has been used to develop Africa. He reiterated why it is essential to use religion to help African people live better life.
He told the Grand Khalifa, “So, we must use religion in our countries (in Africa) to help our people to live better lives because, in other parts of the world, leaders of faith have used religion better the lives of the people.”
The Grand Khalifa extolled vice president Osinbajo. He commended him for his cooperation with President Muhammadu Buhari.
