Top Nigerians grace Olubadan of Ibadan’s coronation today. Very important dignitaries from all walks of life converged on Ibadan for the installation of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan.
The Oyo State governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde was on ground at the very popular Mapo Hall in Ibadan to give staff of office to Oba Lekan Balogun, the newest Olubadan of Ibadan.
The stool became vacant following the demise of Oba Saliu Adetunji Aje Ogungunniso 1. And the process of appointing a new Olubadan started after his interment.
The incumbent vice president, Yemi Osinbajo was in Ibadan to witness the coronation of Oba Lekan Balogun, who now wears the crown. A former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, was in Ibadan too and he had an interaction with Seyi Makinde.
The presidential hopeful, Bola Tinubu spent some time at the venue of the programme. He had actually met with the new Ibadan monarch prior to the coronation.
Traditional rulers including the Ooni of Ile-Ife Oba Enitan Ogunwusi and powerful northern monarchs are among top Nigerians grace Olubadan of Ibadan’s coronation.
The event was full of glamour as the new Olubadan started his journey. The ascension to the stool is by shifting. There is no particular ruling house in Ibadan.
