The next battle line between Adeleke and Babayemi would be tougher than the current. The two bigwigs of the PDP are struggling for the Osun PDP’s ticket.
Yesterday the two sides conducted factional primaries ahead of the Osun State gubernatorial election. Each of them has also claimed to be the real winner of the authentic primary. And the struggle or battle continues.
The Babayemi’s factional primary held at WOCDIF Event Center. Former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chief Olu Alabi, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun, Tajudeen Oladipo, Fatai Akinbade were present.
The primary election was also under the chairmanship of Mr. Wale Ojo. But his own executive of the Osun State People’s Democratic Party doesn’t enjoy recognition at the national level. There was no representative of the National Working Committee in the primary election.
Mr. Ademola Adeleke was the flag bearer of the PDP in Osun State in the 2018 poll. He came behind the incumbent governor Adegboyega Oyetola in the main election.
The Sunday Bisi faction of the PDP apparently enjoys the support of the NWC. And as a matter of fact, the Bayelsa deputy governor was in attendance at the Osgbo Stadium, when the primary held.
The two men can’t represent the party. Only one of them will be in the ballot papers. That means one or two of them won’t fly the flag at all.
The next battle line in Osun PDP will at the court. Surely, either of them will approach the court for redress. The NWC will present a name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
And the other side would feel the need to go to court. And another round of litigations would start. Anything can happen in the court. It doesn’t matter which side is superior, or has an edge right now.
They will slug it out. Actually, it is not clear if either Adeleke or Babayemi would be willing to go to court. But if it happens that they will drag the ticket, it will be at the court.
