Russian President Vladimir Putin can trust Syrian mercenaries in the Ukrainian conflict. It is now clear that Russia can’t do without using foreign hands in the fight.
More than a week ago, the president declared war on neighboring. The conflict between the two nations has really upset the world. Gradually, the war entered the second week. And there is no hope it will end soon.
A Syrian based newspaper, Deir Ezzor 24, has exclusively reported that Russia wants to use mercenaries. Moscow has offered the Syrians a range of $200 to $300 per month.
The impoverished Middle East country is also ensnared in a civil war. The unrest started as a result of Arab spring in 2010. Syria has not balanced since that time.
Vladimir Putin can actually trust the Syrian mercenaries in the fight. Syrians have had experience in urban conflict. They know how to comb interiors of cities and the expertise is fresh.
Russia has struggled so hard to take Kyiv, Ukrainian capital. The Russian forces took other major cities including nuclear power plant with ease. But it has been an ardous task for the forces to enter Kyiv fully.
Putin can trust Syrian mercenaries on the ground that they can’t be emotional. Ukraine has captured some Russian soldiers. And Kyiv made them send messages home.
The captured soldiers would talk with their families on phone. And emotions build up gradually. Whereas the Syrians have no relationship with Ukraine. Hence, Putin can trust them.
The number of Syrian mercenaries is still a top secret in the Kremlin. But the Wall Street Journal reports that they are already preparing in Russia. They will be deployed thereafter.
The Journal also said that Russia may use the mercenaries for long. The two sides of the conflict are getting ready for another round of talks.
