The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, may need to work very seriously on two key regions, and constantly appeal to them because of his presidential interest. The APC leader is now fully in the race. And two regions are very important.
The former governor of Lagos State has been moving around the country to canvas for support. But in whatever he does, he shouldn’t keep his eyes away from two regions in specific. He can’t afford to lose them. Hence, he should always appeal to the politicians there.
Northwest remains the biggest when it comes to voting capacity. The region is so important that no serious presidential hopeful overlooks it. Even Tinubu has been there to canvas for support. He needs to always have his focus on one of the two key regions.
He had travelled to Kano and Katsina since the declaration. He enjoyed a tumultuous welcome from the crowd. The governors of the states, Umar Ganduje and Aminu Masari, were on ground to welcome him.
Bola Tinubu needs to further strengthen his presence and hegemony in that area. He should talk to other stakeholders including Mr. Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Governor Bagudu (Kebbi), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Governor Badaru (Jigawa) among others.
Tinubu should see one method as useful. He can decide to take the fight or struggle to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. The ex vice president is from northeast and he will want to totally dominate that region.
If Tinubu constantly appeals to the northeastern politicians, he won’t just get the APC ticket. He will also be in a better position to win the general elections in 2023.
The APC seems to really favour the northeastern region. The present caretaker committee chairman of the party, Mai Mala Buni is from the zone. Likewise the president of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan is from the area. That means Tinubu can’t just let the zone be.
