Bola Tinubu, ex Lagos State governor, is the main contender for the seat of the president from the southwest region. And Afenifere ought to have decided to give the support to him.
Rather than looking at the side of the former governor, the group, the most powerful in southwest, has decided to back the southeastern agitation.
Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the group, said that it should be the turn of southeast to produce president. The elder statesman gave his reason, which ultimately made the Afenifere snubs Bola Tinubu.
The leader argued that both the southwest and south-south had produced Nigerian president in the past. He said, “Is the South-East not part of the South? What is the moral we are talking about?”
He even discussed further: How can you say rotation in the North and South, and when it comes to the South, it would be South-West and South-South every time?
Adebanjo is aware that Bola Tinubu is running for the presidency. And he must have known that the APC national leader stands a far better chance this time. But he has clearly snubbed Tinubu.
