More Western countries have asked their nationals to leave Ukraine amidst rows with Russia.
A possible war is building up in the eastern Europe as Russia and Ukraine are at daggers drawn.
Belgium has asked its nationals in Kiev, and other cities in Ukraine to vacate the country immediately. The Belgian foreign ministry posted on its official website to ask its citizens to leave.
The statement urged Belgians who are in Ukraine to urgently leave so as not to be caught up in the catastrophe that can happen anytime soon.
The statement says, “Nationals who are currently in Ukraine and whose presence is not strictly necessary in the country are strongly advised to leave the country.”
Moscow seems really determined to invade Ukraine some eight years after the annexation of Crimea. Emboldened Russia has not considered negotiating with Ukraine or US-led NATO.
Belgium warns that there can be deterioration or total collapse of communication in Ukraine.
The United States and the United Kingdom have also called on their nationals to evacuate Ukraine with an immediate effect. Belgium is merely joining them.
US president Joe Biden wants to have a talk with the Russian president Vladimir Putin so as to stop the lingering crisis in the region.
Yet the state department of the United States have called on Americans in Ukraine to leave.
US national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, has advised against travelling to Ukraine right now.
The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office has updated its travel advice to its citizens. It warned them against jetting out to Ukraine.
A statement reads, “The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office today (Friday 11 February) updated its travel advice to Ukraine, and is now advising British nationals against all travel to Ukraine.”
There is a very high tendency that more Western countries will ask their nationals to leave Ukraine. Tensions are steadily spreading across Europe and the West of the possible Russian invasion of Ukraine.
