Borno Governor reveals when Boko Haram will end

Borno Governor Babagana Zulum has revealed when Boko Haram will end in the country. Borno State is one of the most affected in the war which has lasted for more than a decade.

Boko Haram insurgency started in 2009. And it has snowballed into a much wider security problem. It affects three states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa. But Borno suffers from the war more than the other two or any other state.

The state governor has now revealed when Boko Haram will end in the country. He was at the presidential villa today to have a talk with the president, Muhammadu Buhari.

He has constantly visited the president to acquaint him of the progress and challenges in the fight against the insurgents. Now he says that Boko Haram will be defeated before the end of his tenure.

The Borno governor Babagana Zulum will leave power in 2023 unless he contests and wins again that year. And if he enjoys the second term mandate, it means he will be in power till 2027.

The governor has now reiterated that the insurgents will stop by the end of his own administration. That means the war will end at least by 2023 0r 2027 unfailingly.

He argued that the war should be fought both physically and politically. He didn’t provide details about how it will go politically. However, more insurgents are getting amnesty once they drop their arms.

One hundred and four members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) recently surrendered to the troop. ISWAP is a breakaway of the original Boko Haram.
