The real reason why EFCC has charged Okorocha to court may not be connected to the 2023 presidency. Rumours are already going round about his case.
Just three or four days ago, Mr. Rochas Okorocha declared his ambition that he would like to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023. He is a leader in the APC.
But shortly after his declaration, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission comes up with the litigation against the former Imo State Governor.
The EFCC alleged that Mr. Okorocha conspired with other persons together with a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress. They connived to steal a sum of N2.9 billion from the public money.
According to the Premium Times, the matter is before the Federal High Court, Abuja. And Okorocha isn’t the only one in the matter. He is standing trial along with other persons and companies.
The corruption case also involves other defendants such as Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited.
Okorocha has been at loggerheads with a number of leaders of the All Progressives Congress. He tried to impose his son-in-law Uche Nwosu over the Imo State APC. It failed.
But his ordeal with the agency doesn’t include the All Progressives Congress. The EFCC charged Okorocha to court based on the allegation of stealing a whooping sum of money.
