Top 5 states that make Bola Tinubu’s dream a reality
The president-elect owes so much appreciation to 5 top states that make him win the presidential election. The poll was keenly contested and the ex Lagos state governor emerged.
Actually, 12 states delivered for Bola Tinubu, but 5 top states made it possible for him to win the election by beating both Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi of the PDP and the LP respectively.
Kano State is one of those top 5 states. The northwestern state gave Bola Tinubu at least a half a million votes representing 6% of his total number of votes. It’s true that he lost the state to Mr. Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Political Party (NNPP).
The ex Kano State governor polled 997,279 votes. But it would have been more disastrous for Bola Tinubu if he didn’t have up to that figure. Atiku Abubakar could have grabbed that figure from Tinubu. And if that happened, the APC candidate would tell another story.
Oyo State also did well for the ambitious Tinubu. The Yoruba state is one of the 5 top states that have its best to the APC presidential candidate. He won overwhelmingly even though neighboring Osun State would snub the “city boy”.
Oyo State gave Bola Tinubu 449,884 votes. And this enabled him to be far above Atiku Abubakar, who scored less than 200,000 votes in the southwestern state.
Of course, Ogun is also among the 5 top states. In fact, the president elect could ask for more support from the state. While Lagos itself couldn’t deliver for the ambitious politician, Ogun State filled in.
Tinubu has 341,554 votes to put him far ahead of other candidates with a margin of 217,723 votes over Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
One can’t underestimate the impact of Rivers State in the exercise. The fact that Tinubu won the south-south state is really amazing. Having 231,591 votes in the state makes Rivers to be among the 5 top states that enlivened the Tinubu’s bid.
Nyesom Wike can take the credit for this. He ensured that the People’s Democratic Party and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar didn’t have victory in that state.
Niger state is another pillar that provides support and base for Bola Tinubu. The north central state gave its 375,183 votes. That is superb and it projected the ex Lagos state governor to presidency.
