Dangote Can’t Sell Petrol Below Market Value – Presidency

The administration of President Bola Tinubu has made it clear that the Dangote Refinery can’t sell the petroleum products below the market value at a time Nigerians pay up to N1,000 (if not more) for a litre of fuel.

Nigerians have jubiliated the commencement of the much awaited production of petrol from the refinery. However, their hope may be dashed even before the NNPC Limited started lifting the product from the Lekki-based company.

Aliko Dangote, the owner of the company, has said that it’s the federal government through the NNPC Limited that would determine the price.

However, a senior special assistant (SSA) to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi also said, “Dangote Refinery will certainly not sell their products below market value as a business that was set up to make a profit.

“I don’t see how NNPC or the federal government will control the price for a private business.”

“The role of the petroleum industry regulator will be to ensure products quality and fair pricing so that the business doesn’t take undue advantage of the citizens or rip them off,” he added.
