Three Reasons You Lost Election – Presidency Tells Atiku

The presidency has stated reasons why Alhaji Abubakar Atiku lost the 2023 presidential election to Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Supreme Court last week categorically and unanimously affirmed that the incumbent was validly elected as president.

As part of its reactions to the world press conference of the first runnerup Atiku, the presidency listed the three things that made Atiku failed in his lofty bid for the presidency.

Atiku called the conference on Monday and he faulted the verdict of the apex court, which ultimately dismissed his appeal.

Bayo Onanuga, while talking on behalf of the presidency, said that Atiku Abubakar lost because he failed to settle the lingering rift between him and the five rebellious governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Then Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike led four others including Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo). The governors refused to work for the former vice president, hence, he failed to grab the very crucial states.

Bayo Onanuga explained, “Atiku lost because he went into a major election with a fragmented and tattered umbrella that could not hold together. There was no way Atiku and PDP could have won the election with the party platform under which he contested broken into four parts.

“If Atiku was not harboring a delusion of grandeur, we wonder how he could have envisaged any possible pathway to victory with Mr. Peter Obi’s Labour Party, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s NNPP and PDP G-5 Governors who took away possible PDP votes, while the APC went into the election as a strong, viable and unified entity.”

The presidential aide told the former vice president that an end has come to his “inordinate ambition”.

“We want to tell Alhaji Atiku this: Nigeria is not doomed. It is only Atiku’s inordinate ambition to be President that is doomed. Nigeria is moving forward and set to achieve its manifest destiny as one of the most respected and successful nations of the world under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
