Kanu’s detention: “Tinubu is as intolerant as Buhari”, Sowore declares

A human rights activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters Omoyele Sowore hs likened President Bola Tinubu to his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari over the detention of Nnamdi Kanu.

The Biafra Republic secessionist remains at the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS). And Mr. Omoyele Sowore, a presidential candidate in the last general elections, wanted to visit the IPOB leader.

He said that the DSS denied him access to the incarcerated Kanu. Sowore revealed this on his Facebook page. He also posted a letter signed by Chinwe Umeche, the managing counsel at F. C. Ejiofor & Co, the Kanu’s legal counsel.

In the letter written to the DSS, the law firm sought the permission of the secret police to let Mr. Omoyele Sowore, Nnaemeka Ejiofor and Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to see Nnamdi Kanu.

In the Facebook post, Omoyele Sowore said that the DSS botched visitation to Nnamdi Kanu and that he spent several hours at the headquarters of the service. He explained that Kanu himself had invited him to come.

Sowore told Nigerians that after several hours, the DSS told him that he wouldn’t be able to see the IPOB leader, Kanu. He also said that it would be the second time he would be denied access to the leader.

He finally compared Bola Tinubu to Muhammadu Buhari, who (according to Sowore) illegally arrested Kanu from Kenya. He said, “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu regime continue to demonstrate intolerance towards lawful agitation for self determination. Tinubu is not different from Muhammadu Buhari “.
