Both former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu and current vice president Yemi Osinbajo may clash over 2023 APC ticket. The possibility of their clash stares at everyone’s face.
It is true that Tinubu did his best to propel Mr. Yemi Osinbajo to power. Osinbajo served as a commissioner when Tinubu was leading Lagos State. Then, Osinbajo owes Tinubu some loyalty.
However, Tinubu’s dream to lead the country may the main problem that the two men would have. It would be the center of their clash. And nothing may stop it.
Bola Tinubu had told both the president, Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians his intent to rule. He has been walking around the country to seek the support of elder statesmen.
Meanwhile, the vice president, a professor of law, has not denied any link to the presidency. The brilliant orator has just hinted that he would run for the top office.
There have been several reports linking him to the 2023 presidency. He is among the names on the lips of Nigerians as Buhari’s successor. He has said that he would make his stand known very soon.
Of course, if Tinubu hadn’t contributed to help Osinbajo, the vice president might have been there today. Anyway, they are posed to clash over the APC ticket for the 2023 general elections.
Osinbajo would have simply told Nigerians that he didn’t intend to run for the office. But he would rather be quiet. And his silence indicates his interest.
The intriguing here is that Mr. Yemi Osinbajo doesn’t have “political structure”. An ambitious politician can’t do without having a strong political base.
Tinubu has apparently taken his time, energy and resources to build a structure. His presence can be felt in the All Progressives Congress.
However, Osinbajo is more popular among elite who want good governance. His brilliance can be what Nigeria needs for desirable turnaround.
In a nutshell, Bola Tinubu and his ally, Yemi Osinbajo, would clash over the 2023 APC ticket.
